Why Kalo?
I am Kalo (the one and only under 90), also known as Kayla Weiss. I was named in honor of my maternal grandmother, as is customary in our family. As Kalo isn't the most common name, my parents gave me the legal name of Kayla as well. My name has been mutilated for years as Kahlua, Koala, and Cologne. I only realized the beauty of my name later in life.
The name Kalo comes from the ancient Greek word for beauty. I was lucky to be raised in the same city as my “Nonnie” Kalo, and have fond memories of times we spent together having sleepovers, going out for ice cream and to community theater. Later in life, she'd spend holidays with my family, sharing my room. All this has forged a bond stronger than crazy glue. “Nonnie” Kalo is a part of me in many ways. It is my honor to name my business for my beautiful grandmother, Kalo Nassi, who will always and forever be simply beautiful.

Kayla
Kayla is a native Angelino and Valley Girl through and through. Coming from a home with three sisters she had plenty of hair to practice on. After many academically challenging years in school, she attended the Cosmetology program at Santa Monica College from 2009-2011. Despite ADHD and learning disabilities, Kayla passed the state board exam on the first try(!) and is licensed by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. When not in the salon Kayla can be found sitting in her yard on the swing, sipping an iced coffee at the nearest beach or dancing in her kitchen.

Hi! I’m Leead Weiss, a professional makeup artist based in Los Angeles specializing in soft, timeless glam. My approach to makeup is centered on enhancing my clients’ features, creating looks that feel elegant, effortless and uniquely tailored to each individual.
I believe makeup should never overpower, rather elevate. Whether it’s for a wedding, special event, photo shoot or a night out, my goal is to help every client feel confident, beautiful and the very best version of themselves.
Known for my soft glam style, I focus on creating polished radiant looks that photograph beautifully and remain timeless for years to come.
